**NEW** Youth Strength & Conditioning class
HWLC is excited to announce that we are offering a Strength & Conditioning Class for Youth (children from the age of 11 and up to 20) every Sunday from 10.45am to 12.00 noon.
The first class is free to assess whether the athlete is mature enough to accept coaching instructions.
There are many benefits associated with weight training at a young age including improvement of a child’s balance, proprioception, strength and power if it’s taught with correct technique and light implements.
The session starts with a 15-20 minutes’ proper warm-up to prime the athlete’s body to perform at its best including mobility, flexibility, stability and coordination. This is followed by a structured weight lifting program (squats, deadlifts, dumbbell work, presses etc) focusing firstly on proper technique and also on learning basic anatomy. Athletes will record their training sessions using a journal to track improvements.
At the end of the training programme we will test their progress, growth and development following the HWLC Gradings as defined in the old British Amateur Weight Lifting Association Handbook.
